Outstanding Black Ferns Rugby fuel Girls and Womens South Canterbury Rugby 


With the unforgettable memory of the outstanding Black Ferns firmly in our minds we are excited to bring you more opportunities in South Canterbury for our Girls and Women. 

If your daughter or yourself wants to follow their dreams and play Girls or Womens Rugby or you would like to get involved but unsure how, please contact Caro at caro@scrfu.co.nz and she will help you find a team and club to connect with. 


Primary Girls U11 and U13  

A new opportunity in this space with a Primary U11 and U13 Girls Festival on Wednesday 24th of May held at Ashbury park. This is a day festival, with an opportunity to upskill and play other girls only teams giving those girls who are already involved a chance to show case their skills along with those who are new to rugby to try Rugby before committing to the season.  

Another pre season opportunity is the Pleasant Point tens event on Sunday the 23rd of April.  

The U11 and U13 Girls Rugby competition kicks off on Monday the 12th of June and the season finishes on the Monday 14th of August. This year we have included a town vs country game for those wanting abit more rugby on the Saturday 19th of August.   

Secondary School Girls U15 and U18 

Our season kicks off with a Gala Night on Wednesday 10th of May followed by the competition starting the following week on the 17th of May with the season finals on the 16th of August. We are excited about having 6 teams in both the U15 and U18 grade this season, which includes our Mid Canterbury and North Otago schools. There are pre season upskill sessions available for all players through your coaches.

Womens Rugby 

Off the back of last season success, the Geraldine Wahine have been connecting and training has begun on Monday and Thursday nights from 6.30pm at the Gerldine Rugby Club. Contact Courtney for more information geraldinewahinetoa@gmail.com 

Harlequins are flowing suit offering a Womens side this season, training is starting on Wednesday nights at Ashbury park from 6.30pm. Contact Brett for more information brett@gjc.nz.
