Game Development - Caro@scrfu.co.nz

We welcomed Warren Kearney form NZR who delivered a tackle technique and scrum factory upskilling session.
Jonty Ross, Ben Blakemore and Libby Geary along with Dean and myself attended Warrens informative session. The outcome of this season is to upskill before delivering tackle tech workshops to all U18, U19  boys teams along with all Girls trainings around the clubs with key safety messages. Dean and Caro will be in contact with Clubs to book these session early next term.

Teenage Tackle Tens
The night ran smoothly with the majority of teams from TBHS, along with two Aoraki teams in the 14.5 and 16.5 boys. Girls from Craighead and Roncalli also attended joining a tackle tech session, run by our upskilled Ben, Jonty and Libby. Key messages were around preparing the body for contact, footwork, eyes forward and head placement. The new ruling with tackle height below the sternum was encouraged during the night. This message cannot be delivered enough ensuring our players learn positive safe techniques early in the season.
The night finished with a free BBQ for all players, coaches and supporters.

Geraldine vs Harlequins Wahine Game
Thanks to Geraldine Wahine and Jase Hurley for organising an pre-season game against the Harlequins Womens team,  an opportunity to help upskill and give the keen Harlies ladies a run around. This was a fantastic chance for the two teams to connect and share their knowledge and skills. Watch this space as Womens Rugby grows in South Canterbury and we get a step closer to offering our own competition.
