SC Rugby Supporters Club
The supporters club was formed many years ago to support all the rugby team that wear the Green & Black jersey. In the early years it was very strong when our teams were on winning streaks. The club went into recess for some years when it was revived in the late ‘90’s.
The club has renewed spirit and those who are members really enjoy each others company at games at Alpine Energy Stadium or on trips away. The club is always looking for members, and this year when you buy you members ticket you automatically become a member of the club, which entitles you to access to all grounds in the South Canterbury Rugby District .As well as access to all rep fixtures held at A.E.S. To be part of the group in the prime spot in the grandstand, as well as join up with the team and others at the after match functions.
The club last year sponsored gear bags to the Senior, Development, Under 18 & 16 teams. It also has set up a hardship grant fund for young players who are under hard times who are selected for a rep team but not that well off financially, they can apply to the club who will consider all applications on merit and will act accordingly.
The club is again planning a trip to the West Coast this year. These trips are always good value and team bonding. If interested could get in touch of any member of the committee listed below. A trip to Oamaru is also planned. The club is also in charge of selecting the “Player of the Day” award.
At the club’s Annual Meeting two of the club’s stalwarts and long serving members were elected as Patrons: Len King & Bob Mason.
Alex Hardacre was reelected President, Len King as Secretary, and Wayne McBeath as Treasurer.
Other committee members are: Ray Johnston, Noel Henery, Dave Hughes, Ken Cochrane, Dean Langdon, Vern Brosnahan, and Ron Wright.
We look forward to a successful season ahead where our support goes out to all teams, and hope they bring “PRIDE” to the union.

The 4 delegates that attended the National Conference in Ashburton in February enjoyed the experience and came away with some good ideas that we hope to put into practice this year. Although our resources are limited we are doing not to bad. However we would like to think that we could improve on in what we are doing, we are still looking for new members with fresh ideas.
